Hey everyone! Elder Pulu and I had such an exciting week in Revere. We were able to see a huge improvement in the zone this week. The Lord is blessing us so much, our biggest focus now will be to align our expectations with His expectations.
On Wednesday, I was able to go on an exchange with my District Leader, Elder Halsell (who is also diabetic). We had such a great exchange and we picked up a really prepared couple, Iris and Leavitt. We received a media referral for Iris earlier in the week requesting a Bible. When we sat down with her and her fiance, Leavitt, she told us how she is a recovering addict and is on a search for God. We told her that the message we share would be an answer to her prayers. As we shared the Restoration with her, she was so happy she began to cry. Her fiance knew of our church from when he lived in the Bronx and has a great respect for our church. They are both excited to learn more and here's the bonus . . . . they have 6 kids! We really hope they progress. I had a great day with Elder Halsell and I am so grateful for his leadership. He is a fantastic missionary.
Thursday we had a super spiritually uplifting Zone Conference in Weston. Everything that I have been working on lately was discussed and I received many answers to things I have been thinking about. Particularly prayer and what true prayer is. I was really enlightened by this quote in the Bible Dictionary, "Prayer is the act by which the will of the Father and the will of the child are brought into correspondence with each other. The object of prayer is not to change the will of God but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant but that are made conditional on our asking for them." Prayer, when we truly understand it, is so POWERFUL and I invite you all to evaluate your prayers, and I invite you to pray by the Spirit so you can know what God's will is for you.
Friday we saw another huge miracle from a media referral! We received a media referral for a woman named Michelle who ordered a Book of Mormon. As we met with her, she told us that she had just been discharged from the Marines for medical reasons. While in boot camp, she met a lady who was a member! After talking to her, she became interested in learning more about the church. As soon as she got home, she ordered a Book of Mormon so she could start her search. She is super awesome and we are very excited to be teaching her as well.
Things are going very, very well. We were not able to reach our goal this week for new investigators as a zone, but we did see a huge improvement. Elder Pulu and I are starting to get around very well on public transportation and things are looking bright! Thank you everyone for your support. I know this gospel is true and that as we seek God's direction in our lives He WILL direct our paths and lighten the way.
Love,
Elder Gutierrez
