Week 61: On the Lord's Timing

It has been a fantastic week full on many answered prayers!  Most of our investigators are doing well and we have been able to again find many new people to teach who seem very prepared for the Gospel in their lives.  As I said a couple of weeks ago, Elder Harris and I were struggling to get our investigators to church.  We were feeling a bit discouraged with it all, but the Lord truly answered our prayers on his own timing.  We were able to have 6 investigators at church this week!

Working with Elder Harris has been so much fun and so great the past couple of weeks.  We are teaching very well together and we are continually seeing the Spirit direct us where we need to be at the right exact time.  This week we were lead to find 2 of our media referrals who had ordered Bibles, Evelyn and Luz.  We were able to share the restoration with both of them and help them both in just the right times of their lives.  Evelyn had been feeling pretty lost and depressed by the world.  She grew up Catholic and her boyfriend is a Jehovah's Witness.  She never had felt peace at either church and was ready to give up on religion.  She ordered a Bible so she could learn more about God on her own.  She loved the message of the Restoration and hopes to come to church next week!  Luz has just recently been released from prison.  While in prison, she found God and told her pastor that when she got out she would join a church.  She has been going to and was recently baptized into a small Christian church.  She ordered a Bible for her Bible study class.  As we shared the Restoration with her, she was very intrigued and truly is searching for the truth.  We are hoping to see great things happen with both of them this week!

One of the reasons we were able to have such a great Sunday with so many investigators at church was because we had an investigator family attend!  Last transfer, while I was on exchanges with Elder Neilson here in Springfield, we were tracting and ran into Amber and Anthony.  They were very interested in having us share a message with them and their children and since have been taking the lessons.  They are a blended family and all together have 5 kids.  On Saturday night, we were able to give them a chapel tour and introduce them to our Bishop's family.  On Sunday, they came and had a great experience!  We were so excited when they walked in and so many of the members greeted them.

All is well here in Springfield.  Djamilla is continuing to progress well.  She has some real crazy things going on in her life though so if you could all keep her in your prayers that would be great!  This work is so rewarding and I'm loving it so much.  We have a goal this week as a zone to set 10 baptismal dates with our investigators.  We are excited to see some miracles happen!  I love you all and thank you so much for all your support.

Love,
Elder Gutierrez
